
Ernie Hudson, fondly known for his role as Winston Zeddmore in the Ghostbusters movies is a living history of the Black entertainer experience in the US. He was born into a society of strict segregation when being Black and being accused of a crime equaled guilty. His grandmother who was born in 1895, just 30 years after slavery was abolished in the United States, raised Hudson.

Photo of Smeagol a rare lemur aye-aye baby.
On July 14, the Zoo’s female aye-aye, Medusa, gave birth to a healthy baby boy. The baby, named Smeagol after his resemblance to the Lord of the Rings character, weighted 105g at birth.
