Los Angeles based jam group, Camp Freddy, consisting of core musicians Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Billy Morrison (the Cult, Circus Diablo), Matt Sorum (the Cult, Velvet Revolver, Guns & Roses), Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction, Alanis Morrisette) and singer Donovan Leitch (son of folk singer Donovan) performed at the Roxy in Hollywood, Friday, December 11, 2009 to a sold out crowd. It was the second in a trio of decade themed holiday shows for the band.
On December 4th, they covered the 70′s, December 11th, the 80′s and this Friday they will close out their residency with the 90′s. Please check with the Roxy to see if there are any tickets left! See additional images of Camp Freddy here.

December 11th saw guests such as Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray (and TV show hosting fame), Macy Gray, guitar legends Steve Stevens, Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan join in as well as Deryck Whibley of Sum 41, Phil X, Billy Duffy, Steve Jones and Cypress Hill performing on great 80′s hits like Back in Black, Just What I Needed and Paradise City. Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top shredded on Sharp Dressed Man! Jay Gordon Of Orgy performed New Order’s Blue Monday while Mark McGrath gave us a fun version of Ratt’s Round & Round. Hey, it was 80′s night! Franky Perez and Phil X on guest vocals were a bit of mystery to many in attendance as we weren’t familiar with their bodies of work but we’d love to hear more from these two!
Camp Freddy is always a great show to see, guaranteed to be a sell out with a wide variety of special guests covering all genre’s of rock during their set. Singer Billy Idol and Duff McKagan, rumored to be guests of the evening, were sorely missed! If we may boldy state a bias, Billy Morrison looked exceptionally well this evening and is gem to photograph!
Don’t miss their final show of 2009 at the Roxy this Friday, December 18, 2009. We can’t wait to see what they bring to the table in 2010!

I have to say…and it was a close call…but 80′s night was my favorite. I was completely blown away and do not recall the 80′s being that rockin! I thought for sure 70′s would be the one because I have such a deep love for that music (even though I was a small…small child). 90′s was amazing mainly because Travis Barker was mind blowing and I had my daughters there and that brought a whole different twist to the experience (Thanks Dave for the pick and Travis for the stick – you made my girls “LIVES”). Still…80′s – WOW. Billy Sheehan and Steve Vai were just insane. Macy Grey! And Franky Muther Fuckin’ Perez. Great stuff!
